This chapter examines the repertories of engagement used by opera fanatics in their quest for transcendence. It shows that social status is not the only basis for variation within the opera house as passionate fans differentiate according to diverse models to achieve transcendence through the music they affiliate with. This chapter also explains two main strategies used by opera fans for becoming at one with the music.
