This chapter first describes the image of Huracán, as the Carib people called him, in a Haitian voodoo painting the author purchased in the spring of 2001. Huracán, from which the term “hurricane” derives, literally means “his one leg,” and was used traditionally throughout the Caribbean, often connected with destruction. It then details the author's encounters Huracán in his life, in various avatars. It also presents his thoughts about Socrates.
