This chapter analyzes the economic impact of Taiwan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) using a general equilibrium model called global trade analysis project (GTAP). It estimates the impact of the liberalization of the services industry and discusses Hoekman's method of estimating tariff equivalents in services trades. This chapter also considers technological spillovers from advanced countries to developing countries embodied in imports of intermediate inputs.
