This chapter analyzes the services industry in East Asia measured in terms of balance-of-payment statistics. It presents a regression analysis of factor inputs in services trade and the result reveals that the explanatory power of the Heckscher-Ohlin theorem on the patterns of service trade is quite limited. This may be due to the presence of restrictions and barriers and intraindustry trade due to product differentiation. This chapter also compares embodied services trade and disembodied services trade in different East Asian countries.
