This chapter examines the re-entry of American soldiers into society and into the workforce. It describes commercial and job advertisements aimed at the veterans and suggests that these advertisements glorified the fighting man but obscured what being in combat actually meant. This chapter also analyzes the adjustments made by the veterans and how their approach to parenting put them at odds not only with their children but also with their wives.
