This book explores the question on the variation in the right-wing extremist party vote across Western Europe in a comprehensive and comparative manner. It investigates whether the disparity in the electoral fortunes of the parties of the extreme right can be explained by the fact that the parties embrace different types of right-wing extremist ideology, and by the fact that they have different forms of party organization and leadership. It also presents a comprehensive examination of the political, supply-side factors that may affect the electoral scores of the parties of the extreme right across Western Europe. Each chapter in this book evaluates a different set of political explanations for the variation in the right-wing extremist party vote across Western Europe. The precise methodology adopted for each set of explanations is discussed in detail in each of the chapters. Finally, an overview of the chapters included in this book is shown.
