This chapter examines the association between workplace exposure to noise and the risk of hypertension while accounting for several possible confounding influences, particularly salt consumption and family history of the disease. A multivariable linear logistic model indicates that sound exposure is associated with the risk of hypertension. After adjusting for the possible confounding influences of worker's age, years worked, family history, and consumption of salt, an important relationship between noise sound pressure level (SPL) level and the risk of hypertension emerges from the logistic analysis. The logistic model, furthermore, adequately fits the data, ensuring that the model based estimates usefully reflect risk.
