This article studies the present and existing research on religion and politics and the media. It first examines the key findings in the field and evaluates the existing research. It identifies two major tracks in the scholarship on religion and politics and the media. The first centers on how mainstream media cover the intersection of religion and politics. The second examines how religious leaders and groups have attempted to use both mainstream and alternative media for political purposes.
