US astronaut. By 2001, he had logged 1 272 hours in space on four flights, including the Atlantis space shuttle mission in February 2001 to deliver the Destiny laboratory module to the International Space Station. During the mission, he performed three space walks, totalling more than 19 hours, to assist its installation. He has since left NASA. Jones worked on developing NASA's space probe missions before being selected as an astronaut in 1990.
