Large spicule-like features that radiate from the limb at the Sun's polar regions. Macrospicules extend to much greater heights than ordinary spicules (40 000 km instead of 9000 km). They are visible in spectroheliograms of the ionized helium ultraviolet line at 30.4 nm.
