This chapter examines whether the Oslo Accords are binding as traditional treaties. It argues that the Oslo Accords are probably not treaties under traditional treaty law, as embodied in the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. This counter-intuitive conclusion says something about the narrow scope of the Vienna Convention and, more generally, about the formalism that pervades international law.
