Land and water evaluation, appraisal, and management studies are multidisciplinary and require a comprehensive and integrated approach. The survey report on land and water-related study is based on published papers in journals, chapters of books, and PhD theses (2003–9).

Land and water resources refer to the delineable characteristics of land and land cover of the earth’s terrestrial surface, encompassing all attributes of the biosphere immediately above, such as terrain forms, soils, surface hydrology (including shallow lakes, rivers, marshes, and swamps), the near-surface sedimentary layers and associated groundwater and geo-hydrological reserve, the plant and animal populations, the human settlement patterns, and physical results of past and present human activity (terracing, water storage or drainage structures, roads, buildings, etc.). Land is a basic resource that has different roles. It is a productive economic factor in agriculture, forests, grazing, fishing, and mining. It is considered as a foundation for social prestige and is a basis of wealth and political power....
