This provides an overview of the book, with a brief statement of its central aims—to explain, develop, and defend a view according to which ontological distinctions are to be understood on the basis of prior distinctions between different logical types of expression, to argue that modal notions and modal facts are to be recognized as fundamental and irreducible, and that questions about existence are interdependent with questions about possibility, and to develop and account of the nature and basis of metaphysical necessity and possibility which accords with this conception of them. There is a chapter by chapter summary, indicating how the central line of argument is developed.
