The “anti-jock” movement is a mainly online, youth-driven response to concerns about high school and mainstream sport cultures. The movement is led by young males who are (or have been) marginalized within a status system in high schools that commonly privileges members of hyper-masculine sport teams (e.g., gridiron football). That members of the anti-jock movement connect and promote their viewpoints online is considered relevant for thinking about the mobilizing potential offered to young people by new technologies.
