A set of symptoms and/or clinical signs that usually occur together and are inferred to be caused by the same disease or underlying condition, or a condition characterized by a set of associated symptoms and/or signs. A great many syndromes are known, and many are identified by specific names, often by an eponym commemorating the person(s) who first described them. Since some syndromes can have more than one cause, it is important always to diagnose this and treat it appropriately, rather than use symptomatic treatment only....
