Emilio Taruffi was a pupil of Francesco Albano. He teamed up with his workshop companion Carlo Cignani to decorate part of the Palazzo Publico in Bologna. He accompanied Cignani to Rome and continued to work as his partner, in particular on the frescoes of S Andrea della Valle. He painted landscapes in the style of Albani.
