A community-based or sometimes an institutional-based study in which selected individuals are asked to provide answers to questions aimed at assessing their beliefs, values, or attitudes to an issue, problem, or concept. The questions, best presented orally rather than in a self-completed questionnaire, may be open-ended or may provide a series of alternatives, e.g., statements with which respondents are asked to indicate their agreement or disagreement.
