It is an offence under the Statute of the International Criminal Court to conscript or enlist children under the age of fifteen in the armed forces or use them to participate actively in hostilities during international armed conflicts. It also prohibits conscription or enlistment into any army or group during non‐international conflict. It is also an international crime for insurgents to recruit children.
