(c.1492–c.1522), German medallist and sculptor, born in Augsburg. He was the first German exponent of the portrait medal, an art that had been revived in Italy; the faces of Schwarz's sitters are shown in profile or in three-quarters view, which was the Italian style. His subjects included the imperial councillor Kunz von der Rosen (c.1519), Lucia Dorer (1522), and three members of the Schauderspacher family (1522), Magdalena, her son Georg, and her daughter Ursula.
