“Companions in Conversation” is the rich textual record of a two-day, kitchen-table dialogue between long-term colleague-friends Donna Haraway and Cary Wolfe on the manifestos—their origins; receptions; rhetorics; critters; and intellectual, emotional, and political commitments. The conversation develops, as all good conversations do, well beyond its intentions, to plumb the resonances between affirmative biopolitics, secular Catholic material semiotics compared to secular Protestant doctrines of signification, posthumanism, and what Haraway names as her world, namely, “not posthumanism but compost.”
