Adolf Ulrik Wertmuller had an international career. From 1772 to 1788 he worked in Paris, where he was considered official painter to Queen Marie-Antoinette. On 31 March 1784 he was admitted into the Académie Royale de Paris. Later he became a member of the academy in Stockholm, and in 1787 he was appointed painter to the king of Sweden. From 1788 to 1790 he was in Madrid, in 1791 in Cádiz, and in 1793 in Philadelphia....
