intermediate-density lipoprotein

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A class of plasma lipoproteins formed by triglyceride depletion of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL), that contain the same apolipoproteins as VLDL, 24–30% triglycerides, cholesterol, and cholesteryl esters. They are ~25–35 nm diameter and are rapidly cleared by receptor-mediated endocytosis. Further triglyceride depletion in the liver produces low density lipoproteins (LDL).
