This chapter presents the Del-TCS non-classical logical system for modelling the relationship between context sensitivity, vagueness, and gradability in the adjectival domain. An analysis of the context sensitivity/vagueness patterns described in Chapter 3 within this framework is given and the empirical predictions that the analysis makes for a wide range of semantic and pragmatic phenomena associated with adjectival predicates is discussed. Empirical phenomena analyzed in this chapter include: universal/existential context sensitivity, (a)symmetric vagueness, adjectival (non-)gradability, scalar “coercion,” and the distribution of for phrases.
