This chapter shows that when Wittgenstein arrived in Cambridge, Russell was at a transitional point in his work. The text of Principia Mathematica had been delivered to the publisher in 1909, and he wrote The Problems of Philosophy in the summer of 1911 just before Wittgenstein's arrival. Russell was now ready to take on a new project — the problem of matter.
