Alcorta was a medical doctor at first, then became an artistic adviser to the Argentinian embassy in Paris. He introduced French art to Latin America. He became a painter himself and, while living in France, began to exhibit in Paris, first at the Salon d'Automne from 1907. He became an associate of the national society of fine arts in 1921 and he also took part in the Salon des Indépendants, and then at the Salon des Tuileries until 1931....
