Born 7 January 1805, in Copenhagen; died 6 May 1879.

Painter.

Louis Aumont studied at the Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi in Copenhagen, and also with Hans Hansen and Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. He went to Paris when still very young, and studied under Gros. On returning to Copenhagen in 1829, he became a highly esteemed portrait painter. Although he was a member of the royal academy of arts, he became disaffected with his situation in his native city, and left for Hamburg in 1834. He became a citizen of Hamburg in 1839. In 1842, he returned to Copenhagen, and then went off to spend the rest of his life in the West Indies....
