Philippe Druillet has chiefly worked on strip cartoons, especially for the magazines Pilote and Screaming Metal ( Métal Hurlant). He has also done architectural designs and perspective drawings. His particular forte was the backgrounds to the animated action, using scientific perspective to recreate a totally imaginary fantasy architecture, giving close attention to every detail. More recently, he has worked on animated films for cinema and television. He avoids the sort of background scenes that are too complex to deal with one level at a time, and now concentrates on the animated figures....
