Born 1575, in Haarlem; died November 1651, in Haarlem.

Painter. Still-lifes (including fruit).

Haarlem School.

In 1610 Floris van Dyck belonged to the guild of Haarlem. He went to Italy and returned in 1637. Some biographers claim that he lived for a prolonged period in Italy with his friend Jos. Arpinas. When they fell ill the Pope sent them his own doctor, whom they thanked with a picture on their recovery. Van Dyck then returned to his native town where he died (in 1648 according to some sources)....
