This artist figures prominently among the finer engravers of the 18th century. He adopted the style of his teacher, Jacques Aliamet. De Ghendt was foremost an illustrator, whose attentive burin engraving faithfully reproduced the drawings of artists such as Baudoin, Moreau the Younger and Ch. Eisen.
