Born 19 October 1767, in Latvia; died 3 August 1814, in Rome.

Painter, pastellist, draughtsman. Landscapes, landscapes with figures.

After numerous visits to Germany, Switzerland and throughout Italy, Karl Grass settled in Rome, where he died. He left works in Riga and in Germany. They are mostly landscapes of the south of Italy and the countryside around Rome, and views of Sicily. He was also a poet, and a friend of Goethe and Schiller....
