Giovanni Antonio Guardi is the son of Domenico Guardi and the oldest brother and the only teacher of the great Venetian painter, Francesco Guardi. He was quite appreciated in Venetian artistic circles and was registered as a history painter at the Accademia de Belle Arti in Venice in 1755. He operated a kind of boarding school for young artists. Those attending included Francesco Casanova, Giacomo's brother....
