Jørgen Haugen Sørensen, a self-taught sculptor, spent around ten years in France and Italy. He exploited the technique of casting known as the lost-wax process to its full extent. Having begun his career as a realist sculptor, he gradually progressed towards a kind of abstraction, or in truth more towards expression of the fantastic in his creation of improbable animals. His figures and animals are of types which are hard to define and their truculence is perhaps reminiscent of the Belgian brothers Roel and Reinhoud D'Haese....
