Van Hoeydonck studied at the institute for the history of art and archaeology in Antwerp, but was self-taught as an artist and sculptor. He lives and works in Wynegem. He started out as a still-life artist, then developed towards abstraction and finally practised assemblage art. He used existing objects from everyday life, such as mannequins' faces or even their disembodied arms and legs: he assembled these - sometimes piled up together - in the style of Arman, in order to bring out their symbolic potential....
