Bernard Karfiol studied under Jean-Paul Laurens in Paris, where he got his first taste of modern art, and, in due course, gained recognition. He contributed to the introduction of Cubism in the USA. He later reverted to a more traditional style and is best remembered for his stylised paintings of classical nudes in interiors or landscapes. In the USA he regularly exhibited at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh....
