Amsterdam School.

A pupil of Gerrit Pietersz Swelingh in Amsterdam, Pieter Pietersz. Lastman went to Italy around 1604, where he met Elsheimer, J.E.T. van Hagelstem and Jan Pinas, and absorbed Caravaggism. He returned to Amsterdam in early 1607, and remained there till his death....
