Jean le Mayeur de Merprès studied in Belgium under Ernest Blanc-Garin. He settled in Bali in 1932 where he married his model, the choreographer Nji Nyoman Polok. He bequeathed his house and studio in Sanur to the Indonesian government to establish what is now known as the Le Mayeur Museum. Le Mayeur painted in a Post-Impressionist style, specialising in typical scenes drawn from everyday Balinese life....
