Born 28 October 1840, in La Chaussée-du-Bois (Eure); died 1 August 1926, in Paris.

Painter, engraver, illustrator. History painting, portraits, genre scenes. Murals.

Maillart studied under Sébastian Cornu and Léon Cogniet at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He received the Grand Prix de Rome in 1864. He exhibited regularly at the Salon de Paris from 1870, receiving awards in 1870 and 1873. He exhibited in Munich in 1883 and took part in the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris....
