Born c. 1612, in Leiden; died 16 February 1680, in Haarlem.

Painter, draughtsman, engraver (etching). Landscapes.

Frans Jansz. Post was the son of Jan Jansz. Post and brother of the architect, Pieter. He accompanied the latter to Brazil in 1637 with Prince Jean Maurice of Nassau. He returned to Haarlem in 1644, where he was elected a member of the Guild two years later. In 1650 he married the daughter of the schoolmaster Salomon Bogaert, and in 1654 he entered the Reformist church....
