Born 12 January 1599, in Antwerp; died 5 October 1652, in Antwerp, in 1653 according to some sources.

Painter. Religious subjects, genre scenes, animals, farmyard scenes, still-lifes (flowers/fruit), insects.

This artist was the pupil of Harmen de Neyt in 1614. He travelled in France, Italy, Germany and Spain, where he was frequently employed by Philip IV. He was a master in Antwerp in 1625 and married the poet Constantia van Nieuroelandt in 1628....
