Bill Viola is a graduate of Syracuse University (New York). In 1974-1975, he was a technical director of production in one of the first video studios in Europe, in Florence. The early 1980s saw him in Japan. He was artist in residence in a New York TV station and at Sony Corporation's Atsugi research laboratories.
