An entity that has legal personality, i.e. it is capable of enjoying and being subject to legal rights and duties (see juristic person) and possesses the capacity of succession. A corporation aggregate (e.g. a company registered under the Companies Acts) consists of a number of members who fluctuate from time to time. A corporation sole (e.g. the Crown) consists of one member only and his or her successors. See also incorporation.
