A term applied by Malevich to works he showed at the *‘Donkey's Tail’ (1912) and *‘Target’ (1913) exhibitions in which he combined aspects of Cubism and Futurism, notably the fragmentation of form of Cubism and the sense of mechanistic movement of Futurism. The term fits some of his works of this time better than others, and it has often been used rather vaguely to refer to other aspects of Russian art of the period, literature as well as painting.
